The Qatar Football Association (QFA) contracted with Red Dot Films to produce an animated promotion for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.

Red Dot produced the promo using 3D animation technology, influenced by an ad produced by the telecommunications provider Movistar, a sponsor of the Colombian national team.
As in the Colombian ad, the characters have long limbs, tall, fit, and their heads appear small compared to their bodies. Additionally, the locations appear in one colour. However, each scene in the Arab Cup promotion has a colour, following the tournament’s identity colourful patterns.

The Art Director of Red Dot Films, Mohamed Dandarawi, said, “The previous animated films for the QFA were produced as if they were real, and we advised the association to film them instead of producing them as animation. Thankfully, in the Arab Cup promotion, we presented an idea of a different style, and it was approved”.
Even the idea that was presented initially was aiming to show more of the Qatari identity and culture, but the QFA only wanted to focus on the fans of the Qatari national team without addressing any other messages, and it was satisfied with some landmarks such as the Corniche of Doha, Souq Waqif and the National Museum.
Similarly, the initial idea was to show more of the newly built stadiums, but the QFA wanted to show only Al Bayt Stadium, where the first match between Qatar and Bahrain will happen on the 30th of November.

The Creative Head of Red Dot Films, Yousif Al Hamadi, said, “Working with the QFA is fun. They are very cooperative in providing and supporting production requirements. We hope to produce something for the upcoming 2022 World Cup”.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
